The Lamb and Flag can trace its history back to the 17th century. Originally called the Coopers Arms and affectionately nicknamed the Bucket of Blood, the pub used to hold prizefights. The alleyway next to the pub is well known as the poet Dryden was beaten within an inch of his death there in 1679 after the Earl of Rochester wrongly assumed that he had published a pamphlet about the Earl. This is a popular pub in the Covent Garden area of London and outside on the right of the shot is a lamp which is still powered by gas. You can read a review on Travels with Beer.
