Five good selections from one of my favorite local bars. Featuring a local beer, Genny Cream Ale, as well as a beer most of us wait all year for...Nugget Nectar. At Acme on Saturdays every draft, bottle and well is 2 for 1. Can't beat that deal.

Nice, and I’ve had everyone one of those. Something I couldn’t have said a year ago.
Genesee does not belong here. Just because it’s not Budweiser does not mean it’s a craft brew.
Mario,
Hey, this is documenting pubs, bars, and beer. Genny belongs here because they sell it there just as they sell the other beer shown there.
Where did the craft brew reference come from.. I can’t find it. The tags say bottles.. that’s accurate.
Next time you want to hit comment remind yourself of this moment, when you realized what a moron you were and then move the cursor away from the button.
Tool..
It was more a comment with it’s company in the photo and not a rip on the site. Didn’t mean to offend.
It’s getting to be a fine line between small commercial houses and large craft brewers anyway. What makes Genny Cream Ale not a “craft brew?” Because it was brewed in the 60′s and 70′s? There are some so called “Craft Brew” houses that have better distribution than Genny Cream.
I could be wrong, but I believe Genny is an adjunct brewer.
If you have issues with Genny, you may want to also complain about this photo:

You are not wrong per se. You are correct in stating that Genny is an adjunct beer. The definition most widely accepted of craft brewer is one who’s flagship product is NOT an adjunct lager. Clearly this is and clearly they fail that definition.
Of course I hate definitions. They also are responsible for the Dundee brand. Beer, brewed on the same equipment, that is not adjunct lager. Beer, that if the Genny name did NOT exist, would be considered craft beer.
That said, people can bitch all they want about Bud, Miller, Coors, Genny, and other adjunct lagers and I will always counter with this: It’s more popular than the shit you drink. Period, end of story. Your ONLY counter to that is to begin dinging people on their poor choices in which case the counter to that is to ding you on your poor choice in questioning people’s tastes. You see we have a stalemate.
You can argue that advertising is why they are so popular.. you could, except that Genny ads are almost non-existent. You could except not everything that is highly hyped is actually pure crap.
Point is, beer is beer and burgers are burgers, but no one is claiming that McDonald’s doesn’t serve burgers simply because they aren’t kobe beef.
They say fat chicks need lovin’ too… I maintain that there’s no reason to neglect the adjunct lagers either.
Of course, it should also be noted that Köstritzer Schwarzbier is not a craft beer either.
Wow, and all this is because a Genny bottle was put next to four craft beers with the statement “Five good selections from one of my favorite local bars.” It’s just beers that are available at that Bar, that the poster Kim, indicated she likes…
Dude, Mario, or as my friend LTS says, “Tool” Is your craft beer snobbery so big that you are saying that Genny Cream shouldn’t be even served in the same vicinity as a “fine craft brew?”
Well, needless to say I’m highly amused. We need more comments like this around here, if for no other reason than LTS can get fired up. That guy knows how to rant.
To be fair, the Genny wasn’t mine. As it was 2 for 1 day at Acme I spent my chip on the Köstritzer. Also that wasn’t the only Genny drank that day. Craft beer snobbery is annoying. What do you drink at a sports event or a concert? Very few venues have craft beer.
I’ve spent many a summer drinking Labatt’s or Molson at a show or ballgame. Happily.
Do I buy this stuff at home? No. But that’s mostly because we home brew.
I think you guys are over estimating my snobbery. I never said anything about not serving it, not drinking it, anything like that. I noticed a Genny next to a Prima and it just caught me as odd.
If you want to dislike me and call me names because of that, that’s fine. I never called into question the quality of the photography (which I love) or made judgments on the quality of the character of anyone else here.
Awesome! I got the chance to visit and photograph at Troegs for our digital magazine here at work. They were bottling the NuggetNectar during the second day of the shoot. Headed up there this weekend for some beer with friend! You can check out the article, photos and interactive bottling map here… http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/lancasterchamber/connections0210/index.php#/6

Dear Mario,
The Genesee Cream Ale is actually one of America’s only Craft Beers. Craft means to create right? Cream Ales were created (crafted) in America and are the only indigenous beer to the US, other than Steam Beer.
I think you need your ego checked. The Genesee Brewery makes good products and belongs there just as much as the other beers.
Mr. Cream Ale.
